Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. are an essential parts of our business marketing. Unfortunately, as with many other business owners, I do not consistantly post which decreases the value of these marketing opportunities. One of the most desired results of social media is to build relationships. However, the types of relationships that result can only be based on the content that is shared. The large downside of social media is it lacks the intangibles of communication, empathy, energy, tone, emotion, etc. These intangibles are the foundations of true trusted relationships. The only way to integrate all of the essential elements enabling deep and lasting relationships is to have face to face interactions. I believe, when we focus the great majority of our communications on "technology communications", we are doing ourselves a big disservice. Establishing effective relationships comes down to the "old fashion" approach, taking time to meet with people. Your thoughts? Joan |
