| The Small Talk of Holiday Gatherings |
|
This time of year, many of us are inundated with invitations from colleagues, friends, family, etc. to attend holiday gatherings. Not everyone enjoys attending these parties. One of the frequent reasons is the obligation to engage in "small talk". There are some who think it's a waste of time, it's a chore and others who are not particularly good at it. This is the season that affords many opportunities to broaden our personal and professional networks. Even if you don't particularly enjoy the "small talk", that is required at social gatherings, consider attending a few. The key is to be open to the opportunities and others. You probably will be surprised at the connections that can result from this relatively small effort. |
